How We Handle Payments for Practitioners in the US and India

·5 min read

A look at how NextGen Commerce routes payments directly to practitioners via Stripe Connect, Venmo, and UPI — with no platform take.

When we built the payment layer for NextGen Commerce, the hard constraint was: money should never touch us. Every dollar (or rupee) should flow directly from client to practitioner the moment a session is confirmed.

We achieve this using three complementary methods: Stripe Connect for card payments globally, Venmo deep links for US-based clients who prefer mobile wallets, and UPI for practitioners and clients in India.

The platform detects the client's country via IP geolocation and surfaces the right option automatically. A client in Mumbai booking a session with a practitioner in London sees a UPI QR code. A client in New York sees Stripe and Venmo.

For practitioners, setup takes about two minutes: connect your Stripe account via OAuth, enter your Venmo username, and optionally add your UPI VPA. From that point on, payments are fully automated.

Build your practice on a platform that gets it.

Everything independent professionals need — booking, payments, content, and client management — in one place.
